Dr. Miles Olson and Terry Wubbena founded SCHOOLHOUSE LEARNING SOLUTIONS, INC. in 1995 to provide quality educational programs. They believed that they could harness
the power of computers to help teach young people learn. They hoped to do this by combining solid teaching techniques with Technology. The interesting programs described here truly help
children learn. Children find them interesting and exciting as well. The company is dedicated to providing an alternative to 'edutainment' . Dr. Olson says, "Too many parents and teachers have been told the only
way to keep children involved in computer assisted learning is through having them play games. We offer programs that engage students and help them discover real joy in learning. Real learning activities, not artificial
games, are the basis of our programs." During Dr. Olson's 29 years as a professor of English education and composition at the University of Colorado at Boulder, he became an expert in
understanding the ways people learn. He has spent the past eight years studying and developing programs to help young people learn to spell. Terry Wubbena is a senior computer software
designer who developed many varied and complex software systems in his 15 years at Bell Labs. He has been involved in educational technology for many years. Most recently has worked with computer-based programs at
Douglass Elementary School in Boulder, Colorado. Together they formed Schoolhouse Learning Solutions, Inc. to develop quality educational software for school, home school, and home use. |
